We are delighted to announce that we are now open.
As everyone works towards the new normal within the Government and health guidelines, your experience with us may be a little different. We are working to a set of temporary rules based on advice from the authorities, so please, before you visit us, take a quick look at the measures that will initially be in place as we reopen our Southwick pub with beer garden.
Booking is available for inside tables only. Our Balcony & Terrace tables are available on first-come-first-served basis on arrival. Tables are subject to a 2 hour limit.
We accept bookings for up to 6 from different households and 8 from the same household.
We will require contact details (name and mobile number) from one person within the group which will be taken on arrival.
What to expect when you arrive.
Our amazing terrace and balcony is available when the weather permits on a first-come-first-served basis. You may book inside tables online.
We will need to operate a one-at-a-time system for use of our loos.
All orders will be taken by staff at your table. We are unable to serve at the bar due to Social Distancing guidelines.
We need to keep the music down. Unfortunately.
This is a learning curve. Please help us to keep customers and staff safe.
We are open:
Thursday & Friday
Midday to 9pm (Kitchen: last food orders at 7.45pm)
9am - 9pm (Breakfast: 9am-11.30am then Midday - 8pm - last food orders at 7.45pm)
9am - 8pm (Breakfast: 9am-11.30am then Sunday Roasts from Midday until 6.45pm)
Inside tables are available to book. Outside tables are offered on a first-come-first-served basis. If you have booked an inside tables and wish to dine outside, we will do our best to accommodate this - but this is strictly subject to availability.
All tables are subject to a 2 hour limit. This is to allow for regular cleaning to table place and enable as many of our customers as possible to enjoy our unique venue.
To begin with, we will be closed from Monday to Wednesday, but this may well change as we work through the new way of operating.
In line with Government guidelines and due to the size of our tables, our booking policy is for up to 8 people from the same household or up to 6 people from different households. Tables will be allocated on arrival (unless you have booked an inside table) according to the size of the group (to allow for social distancing), and whether you will be dining with us (some tables are low level and more suited to drinking than dining).
Please stay at the table you have been allocated. We need to manage the sanitation of tables and social distancing at the venue and prevent the spread of COVID-19. All tables are subject to a two hour limit to allow us to follow our cleaning procedures and allow as many people as possible to enjoy our venue. Please bear this in mind.
Children and dogs are, as always, very welcome, but we do ask that they are kept on a lead at all times. Dogs that is. Please keep your children within your designated seating area.
As it has been widely reported, the terms upon which we can open also require us to record contact details from one person per group. If you have booked online, then we will already have your details. All other customers will be required to supply a name and mobile number of one of your group members. This information is kept for 21 days before being permanently erased.
On arrival, you will be greeted at our terrace entrance by our door host who will ensure we have the required contact details. This ensures that we are compliant with the NHS track and trace systems. If you have parked in the car park, then please ask for a parking ticket to display in your vehicle.
Weather permitting, we will offer you a table, suitable to your group size and whether you are dining. Our terrace or balcony tables are offered on a first-come-first-served basis. We are unable to take bookings for outside tables. All tables are offered for a maximum of two hours from arrival.
We will be operating primarily from our waterside terrace when the weather permits, although we will have tables available inside for diners.
If the weather is not playing our way, then we will have tables available inside the venue - both in our main bar area and upstairs. Due to the restrictions that we must work under, there are fewer tables available to allow for space between groups than we have had in the past.
Unsurprisingly, our terrace and balcony tables are extremely popular when the sun is shining. We offer these on a first-come-first-served basis and they are not available to book. You may book an inside table and, if an outside tables if available when you arrive, then we will gladly move you to one of these if at all possible.
We kindly ask customers to keep to their assigned tables - although if you do wish to move, we'll do our best to get you your preferred spot but will need to clear any tab you have running at the time and ensure our hygiene procedures are taken care of during the move.
Finally, all tables are offered to customers for two hours maximum stay.
Should you need to pop to the loo, we will be operating a one-in-one-out system. Please be patient with us and leave enough time so you are not caught short. Please use our washrooms for the necessities and use the lock on the main toilet entry door. No reapplying a full face of makeup or creating a brand new hairdo. Oh, and as if you need reminding, please wash your hands!
An organised washroom system helps us to maintain social distancing and carry out our strict hygiene regime.
Our staff will take your order from you at your table. To protect our staff and other customers, please do not come to the bar to order or pay your bill - we will be with you as soon as we can.
Live bands and DJs are not permitted under the guidelines and all venues have been instructed to keep background music to a level that does not require staff or customers to ‘raise their voice above normal level to be heard’. So, for now, we will not be able to turn up your favourite tune when it comes on. Even if it is Dexy’s Midnight Runners. Sorry.
Please bear with us at this strange time. We are all learning. To use the phrase that is constantly bandied about, these are ‘unprecedented times’. Our priority is the safety of all of our customers and staff and we need to do things by the book. Your support while we get used to our new way of working is really appreciated. It will help us to stay open, get back to something resembling normality, and welcome everyone back to our lovely pub. If you have any questions at all, then please get in touch.
Of course, as things progress, rules will be eased and changed to make things better for everyone. We will adapt and change as the situation allows. So please help us by adhering to these rules and supporting our staff in carrying out their duties under these conditions. If you don’t follow these rules or give our staff a hard time, we will need to ask you to leave. Please don’t put us in that awkward position.
